Because it has gone down to far in relation to our responsibilites and commitments around the world. While slashing defence spending Clinton has greatly increased military deployments. Thats the main reason. There are specific reasons for specific programs as well. Tim, Where are we short? I don't recall us telling Bosnia we were over budget, or pulling our troops out early in the Iraqi war because we ran out of $$$ to the fill the tanks with gas. We spend billions on defense while in peacetime. Its enough in my estimate. We don't adequately house and feed our own people but we have enough $$$ to play Captain Amerika to the world. ted
