Yeah, 2200 seems a reasonable downside target right now. I recall discussing that number with James Hardy (now going by werefrog?) a few weeks ago. I sure hope that's the real bottom - the perma-bears keep tossing around numbers like 1500 (or lower).

I, too, am out about a million this year, measuring from the valuation at the Nasdaq peak. About half is reduced gains on long positions and the other half is taxes paid as part of my liquidation strategy. The only good news is that the liquidation strategy ultimately worked - it stopped the bleeding before it got worse, so I'm not down 50% like the Nasdaq itself.
