To spend billions on more defense is ludicrous imo. As far as the ballistic missile defense spending less then a quarter of a percent of our GDP to make sure that the Chinese or North Koreans can't incinerate the San Francisco bay area, or turn LA into a large fireball it not imo ludicrous. If it helps, look at it as protecting the environment of California. More generally if we are going to have our current level of military involvement throughout the world we do need to spend some more money. It could be argued that we should instead cut back on our overseas deployments and commitments. Would you support such a move? Tim
