Not always. Inflation CAN weaken a currency but a weak currency is not, per se, because of inflation or vice versa. I believe the move in gold is NOT a sign of increasing rates of inflation. The falling dollar is not because of budding inflation but rather a function of a weakening US economy, the subsequent flight of capital and the coming interest rate differential as the Fed eases. So while a lower dollar will be slightly inflationary, it will not result in an overall increase in the rate of inflation - which is headed lower.
