I have similar memories of the 70s. One thing that strikes me is that it seemed that people were more friendly and easy going, but I could feel that way because I was a child then.

I was a teenager during the 70's and I remember it very differently. I thought those were the meanest times of my life. Just look at the movies of the period and there's an ugly hatred that permeates most of them.

My sister was 5 years older than I and the sexual freedom that was supposed to be liberating had just the opposite effect for a young woman. It meant that you put out sexually or you were openly ridiculed.

Everyone puts down the 80's as the decade of greed, but I think they were a great improvement on the 70's.
