Texas Instruments (TXN: Research, Estimates) dropped 94 cents a share, or 2.2 percent, to $42.06, following a cut in 2001 earnings and revenue estimates from Prudential analyst Hans Mosesmann, who kept his "strong buy" rating.

"While it appears that the catalog, analog and broadband areas are doing quite well, we believe that Texas Instruments will likely be impacted by the continuing inventory issues in some end markets," said Mosesmann in a research note.
