Never got started as a teenager,... too poor to afford it and too hyper about sports. Came to be the "designated driver on any of the hockey teams I played on and that suited me to a "t". In my thirties and early forties, was still too poor and still too bonkers on sport (Olympic sailing). Now, I'm too set in my ways to change. (g)

No religious aspects to it, just plain northern stubborness. (g)
