That's the case (and my timing is usually bad). However, I wouldn't do so with "ordinary" stocks. I limit my holdings to Gorillas, which theoretically have competitive advantage periods that run 5 to 10 years. Using that time frame, and limiting myself to a small number of holdings so I can do extensive dd, gives me the confidence that makes it possible to keep my eyes on the horizon and ride out the waves of volatility - but I admit to getting sea sick at various times (like yesterday).

Note: a significant portion of my Gorilla holdings are in LEAPS, and I've come to the realization that I need to treat them in a different manner. By construction, they are long term trading vehicles, so I'll keep my eyes on you and other traders for signs of tops.

One other note, staying out of margin and short term calls is an essential part of this approach. I can't allow Mr. Market to force me to sell at a low.
