Thanks for your comments. I am considering LASIK corrective surgery, and plan to discuss further with my optometrist. Including whether the cheaper / higher volume clinics are statistically as good as their more expensive competition.

Part 2 of the article can be summarized by the following:

LASIK has had a high success rate (very few serious complications, around 2 in 10,000 cases as I recall).

Some patients experience adverse side effects:
- 30-70% experienced reduced night vision
- halos.
