Wicksell's Article May Explain Fed's Strategy on Interest Rates

According to Mr. Wicksell, the optimum level of interest rates is a level that is roughly equal to the return demanded by investors. He calls this rate the "natural" rate. Imbalances between this rate and the market rate, the rate that banks charge clients who want to borrow, cause inflation or deflation, he wrote.
