Hyundai Electronics Gets US$660M Capital Injection
December 21, 2000 (TOKYO) -- Hyundai Electronics Industries Co., Ltd. agreed to get 800 billion won (about US$660 million) worth of funds from Citibank and other nine Korean major banks.

The company said it will pay off debts with the capital injection and cash flow.

Securities analysts familiar with the LSI industry, however, have a skeptical view on the company's plan.

"Hyundai said it will pay off about US$6.25 billion from the period between 2001 and 2002. I don't think it's easy, considering the DRAM market today and the company's performance," said one analyst, citing the fact that Hyundai fell in the red by about US$267 million in the Jan.-Sept. period of this year.
