Other than imode in Japan does anyone know of any mobile wireless internet service that charges by the bit?

I see Sprint charges per minute; for data minutes over plan, the price is 0.25-.39 cents per minute. Of course if you're within Sprint's coverage range, you wouldn't use G* anyway.

A competing Inmarsat satellite system charges $2.75/minute for data rates 1/4 of G*'s and you have to pay 2.4K$ for a 1 Kg suitcase unit that's incompatible with any terrestrial standard to get it, so maybe G* isn't that bad.
