Bill,

As you know, I am not a great fan of Greenspan since his attack on the market last March.

A FREE market has a way of correcting itself. Stocks that are overpriced will eventually come down as fewer and fewer gullible investors get suckered into buying them. What AG did was to artificially change the rules of Supply and Demand by directly attacking the markets and investors under the guise of fighting Inflation (which inflation). I said it back in March that his attacks would ultimately lead our economy into a recession. I was laughed at by many here on this very board for even suggesting such a scenario. Here we are in December, and finally many are quickly coming to the realization that we are in a RECESSION.

Signs of the recession were becoming more and more apparent months ago yet AG chose not to react. Even earlier this week he had the opportunity to reduce the damages he caused, yet once again he stood still. He turned a snowflake into an avalanche.

"People are spoiled and don't appreciate Greenspan"

".....will not cause irreparable harm."

Not everyone is spoiled. I know many investors who came to the markets in March, just prior to the crash. How are these investors spoiled? They've lost everything they had. And NO, they did not buy into the dot.coms. They stuck with the bluechips and still lost. How do you explain to someone who has lost his house that he is spoiled?

How do you console someone who is literally crying on the phone that things will get better. How does this someone tell his wife and newborn that he can no longer afford the new home they were building and will also likely lose his deposit?

Many people have been hurt. Though the harm to many is repairable, to many others it is not.

Vince

Merry Christmas
