I wonder whom the Fed consulted with about Y2K...Yardeni? They could have asked Gartner, or even me, and found out that there was a huge remedial effort going on for years to make sure computers wouldn't go belly up on Jan. 1. They didn't, but I guess we got screwed about a year later anyway. The good rep Greenspan had might get obliterated by this year's absurd market extremes and any recession that hopefully doesn't follow. If one does, I don't know how anyone could say the overtightening of 6 rate hikes (equiv. of 8 because of the two 50 pointers) didn't cause it. Tony
