Sir
If it may please you to go Way Ot: Here is the latest on Mariah. For those that are interested.

Well we made to and fro San Diego (barely) for Mariah's visit with the dis-morphologist. The flights were
horrible w/ Delta's pilot slow down. Anyways, Dr. Jones was very good. Unfortuately none of her medical
records from 4 different sources got there. I know they all sent them so we think it was a snafu @ UCSD and
they are probably sitting on someone's desk there and never got to Dr. Jones. He was able to rule out fetal
Alcohol syndrome based on her physical features. That was nice. He did blood work for SMS (Smith-Maginnis)
but really was not pinning his hat on that either. Basically w/o her medical history more detailed family/genetic
history we were shooting in the dark. Out Ped faxed her records down again today so he can review them and
include that info in his report. His final thoughts were that she may have been hypo thyroid since birth, but since
we got home our Ped mentioned that she was borderline hypo @ 13 mo. and that the thyroid tissue that she had
was being out stripped of it's ability to sustain her growth rate?? We are trying to get results of the thyroid test at
the time of her first PKU test but that may take a while.
At any rate. Mariah has been making remarkable progress since she has been on Thyroid med. She has put on
two pounds in the past 2 1/2 months (appro 30% increase). She is now crawling like a little monkey. She is up
on all fours and doing it right. She tries to get up a couple of stairs now and then. At our last Ped visit she was
scoring around the 2 1/2 percentile on the growth curves and now she is nearing the 5th percentile.
Dr. Jones knows the developmental guy here and said we could not be in better hands, and that the PT,OT,
and speech therapy's were are best bet at this time. We don't know the extent of the thyroid issues/lack thereof
but we will continue to work with what presents itself.
Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

Pete
