"The reality is the trade is so far gone and I still am not clear on what to do."

Truth is no one knows the future and it is unrealistic to think anyone does.

Regarding what to do about the trade: I am betting I have way more tied up in this trade than you do and I am not panicing in the least. My 20 years experience in investing has taught me this: Human nature drives most people to want to buy as the market is making new highs and sell when the market is making new lows. Right now, you are falling prey to those emotions. It will take some time for this to all work through, but if you do not have a long term time horizon with stock market money, you have the money in the wrong place! Anytime I have bought in at too high of a level, I was disappointed at the time of the trade, but over a period of years, time has always bailed me out.

Maybe this time it is different. Maybe the market will go down and stay there for 10 years. But I think that is unlikely.

Hunker down, be patient and stay put is my advice. But as Louis Rukieser says...No guarantees! There are none in this business!
