Scrapps,

I always go long or short or sell or cover with market orders because I have lost lots of money on that last eighth or quarter. For example, last July to August timeframe CREAF hit 3.5 per share. I put in a limit order to buy 1000 shares @ 3.5 and I never got the stock. CREAF now trades around 18. I would have fared better to buy 1000 shares anytime during July or August at market for 3.75 to 4.5 per share. Case number two is Boeing. In fall of 1993 I put in a limit order for 36.625/share. Boeing went down to 37 or therabouts so I never got the stock and now it trades in the 95 range. In my opinion the money is in the the movement of the price of the stock, not shaving off that last eighth on your trade.
