That's an interesting article. But one of the ways you make sure next times IS different- is by protesting today. That's how we got integration- through protest. Perhaps that is how we will get better voting machines and procedures in poor districts. Sometimes the only thing people will notice is protest. Non-violent and humane protests, imo, when they are well coordinated (and don't- for example- do stupid things like block the traffic on the Golden Gate) highlight social issues that need change. Whether Mr Jackson can articulate it or not- the way to get attention on this (because it will quickly be forgotten if we do not do something) is to make an issue of it. If the Republicans felt that they were "cheated" out of this election through means that were correctable I am SURE they would be protesting. They protested every day at a busy intersection in our town- even BEFORE the thing was decided- they nearly cause an accident right in front of me. If they can protest the proper procedural challenges to an election- WE, as liberals, can certainly protest the improper disenfranchisement of the poor, and of minorities.
