Interesting discussion on stock values, etc.

I look at unrealized gains more as a vaporous "opportunity cost;" what I *could have bought* if I had sold something else. I decided long ago that I would not beat myself up by second-guessing. Learn from experience - yes. Agonize over past poor decisions - no.

I, too have ridden the roller-coaster since I spent a year (mid-95 to mid-96) working for AMAT as a contract temp. This makes two trips up and two down. I still firmly believe that it will go up again (and later, eventually down, inexplicably as usual. <g>)

One of the biggest economic lessons I've learned is that THIS IS NOT A ZERO-SUM GAME! It is fallacious to assume that because someone made money, someone else lost *the same amount*. Nevertheless, because the simplest path is to do exactly that, it's a common perception.
