Were you in teh St. Louis office or out in Cali? I am from St. Louis originally before joining the service and recall the 70s recession well. My whole neighborhood was made up of McDonnal employees that were laid off. Some took up house painting, grocery bagging etc. My neighbor was an electrical engineer specializing in high tech aircraft refrigeration systems and ended up selling Fedders air conditioners door to door. The clowns forget what a real recession is like <NG> Luckily my father was one of the few that didn't work there and kept his white collar job but had to take a pay cut for a while.
