My problem with environmental regulations is they hurt the small businessman so much more than the big one.
true... however, i admit that these laws are needed. the answer that i was seeking is what X gave me. more importantly, i believe that "attitude" is also important. the "foot soldiers" in many instances bear an important weight in re" the final cost of implementation of the particular laws.
another example...
"coastal commission", "wetlands", and other requirements in Washington, Oregon and California requirements that impact building permits.
these days a building permit can take you 18 to 24 months to get it (and that is not counting any "wetlands" issue that may pop up).
the actual building takes only 4 to 6 months !
the cost that these ludicrous periods add to the overall project is considerable. sometimes, the officials, have such arrogant attitudes it is exasperating to just talk to them. they feel like third class Nero's ready to burn your project at the slightest "out of line" demonstration of exasperation.
damned little tyrants !
the real beneficiaries of these agencies have been the states of Arizona, Nevada and Utah, since many companies have migrated to these states, literally running away from these good-for-nothing emperors of city hall terrorism.
there are instances, where certain laws are so out of reason and touch with practicality that it is inexplicably how they get on the books.
another example...
trash collection.
the existing laws (in some cities), make the property owner the ultimate liable party for the bill. so if a business owner (not owning the property), skips town, the owner is liable for the trash pick up bill. on top of that, the owner is in a better position to know how the businessman in question is doing, yet he is forbidden from requesting that the service be stopped, before a huge bill is run AND the city, unless it hears from such businessman, CONTINUES to service the account, REGARDLESS of how much in debt the account is.
see what i mean about having this attitude that... if the money is there, let's just spend it and to hell with any other consideration as to WHO DOES THE MONEY REALLY BELONGS TO ?
as i have said... i am not opposed to specific laws being placed, so long they are made based on some reasonable standard. however, what burns me is the manner in which they are either imposed or implemented by a tyrannical team of:
1. ignorant politicians
2. arrogant bureaucrats.
and sensitivity be damned!! (ggg)
