No certain evidence, perhaps, but aren't they using 248nm steppers at both FABs? And the same source for masks, raw wafers, etc? And they claim there is no layout difference between the two chips (no additional speedpath work for the Dresden parts).

But the Dresden parts are good for at least 20% better performance. So I will continue to believe that copper on .18 has been a very good thing for AMD - but as you say, there is no certain evidence.

This also sort of begs the question of how much (if any)Athlon could gain if it were layed out to optimise it for the copper process at Dresden and provided some additional speedpath work. I guess we'll find out next month.
