Trader --

My first "awakening" to Alex Brown was quite a few years ago when TCSI hit the skids after losing a contract for work in Japan. The stock fell 50% almost overnight and AB immediately put out a "buy" recommendation. This was before the dot.com era where 50% drops became more common. A week or so after the fall started, I was at a conference in Baltimore and on the way to assigned room for the TCSI Q&A, I chatted with an AB analyst who soon confessed they had not only sold when the news hit but had shorted as well. This on top of their buy recommendation. So, yes, the firm is certainly capable of the scenario you've outlined.

There's not much the average investor can do when the big boys play games. How many of us have the courage to jump in without knowing why a stock is plummeting?

When trading resumes next week, hopefully the truth will be well known and we can benefit on the way up.
