The problem with any minimum wage is that it cuts off the low end and makes it impossible for people who would like to work below that level to find work. Some jobs are just temporary like summer jobs or part time where no skill is needed. Others can serve untrained people who want to get a start in earning. When a minimum is put in place many employers can't hire the unskilled labor. This doesn't accomplish the purported goal of protecting those slightly above minimum wage from anything. In fact, they don't have the possibility to be retained at a lower rate if the employer falls on hard times. They're just let go. The caring types preach about the glories of this protection mechanism, but as usual, it's cut throat nasty. They don't look at it that way.

No question about it. We have a major vacuum is spiritual values and we will have to pay that piper too. What good is health and wealth if everyone is half dead anyway? The two just make us healthy animals. Further, is it possible to have fun in our great society? It's against the law. Doing anything costs a bundle and bores you to death. People are paranoid, suspicious, and fearful, where they shouldn't be and completely indifferent towards the true threats.

The political parties reflect the kind of people we are. Gutless.
