Well fred, another fact is that the u.s. is the richest country and the rest of the world, most of it anyway, cannot afford to buy a pc. That is for the house hold. However, you are probably right that overall pc demand may still be increasing, as it should be. If msft gives a warning or if some other respectable high tech company does, that may mean something short term. However, long term, 50+ years, the evolution of the pc will be drastically different and todays giants may be like yesterdays apple comp. The technology sector is a dangerous area, if one company misses the boat, they can end up like apple or dec or ibm (of old) if they are lucky. It will only be known in the future how things turn out, but pc growth is determined by many consumers, and it will probably be good as long as consumer spending is.
