They say that perception is reality and, in the short run, they are correct. There is a perception among analysts that the analysts that a telecom spending slowdown has affected Nortel. Now, the same rumor brings JDSU down.

"Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown issued a report saying the telecom spending slowdown that has already hit Nortel Networks Corp. is catching up to JDS. The company was also
downgraded to "buy" from "strong buy" by analyst George Hunt at Wachovia Securities, with a 12-month target price of US$85 a share."
