Terry, I'm not sure if you can beat Schwab's $30 commission by a significant margin with any other broker that will fill shorts below $5.

So if commission is your chief concern, you might want to forget it.

OTOH, if what you want is a fill, try a broker that clears through Pershing. Examples include DLJ direct, Vanguard, Yamner.
