Oh Susan,
I am not mad at you, or anyone.. But government is us, and we rely on it for so many common interests, whether it is defense, education or I-5... And the reason we seem to need it.. is
We can't seem to govern ourselves. If everyone could, we wouldn't need it.. I try to govern myself to a certain degree.. I sure try. I fail often . But I am not sure everyone even trys.. And I truly believe there are people out there, that need help, for whatever reason..
Also, everyone does not have the same needs, the same wants, at any particular time. And my impression, rightly or wrongly, is that the "conservative" viewpoint in our country many times, does not take that into account..Although they preach individual freedoms, those freedoms seem to me to be narrowly confined to "their" definition, whether it is religion or morals..
Also, I have this Zen-like attitude of life.. The old proverbial journey.. That we are continually presented with "situations", most easy, but occassionally, most difficult, almost impossible.. And it is how we "react" to these, is how we are to be judged or how we pass the test.. if we are to move to the next level..
And many times, these situations involve other people, that seem different, that do not hold our values towards work, play, faith.. etc. And our reaction to these is what is important..And it is not a "forced" reaction.. but it can be learned..and it becomes spontaneous and hopefully "wisdom".. I am working on that.. I back slide a lot.. It is like climbing a cinder cone.. take two steps, and slide back one..
It is hard to explain in a short note.. and I am probably not making sense.. but hey, what the hell else to do.. on a Saturday morning, slightly, but pleasantly hungover..
Take care now.. m |
