Well my opthalmologist has long since retired I'm quite sure, I haven't visited him in years. I was born with a lazy eye which was largely fixed thru surgery when I was very young (over 25 years ago).

So I think that my optometrist should at least be able to provide an informed, objective opinion about the local clinics here. On my next visit I will consider his referral.

The whole corrective surgery laser thing seems to be going mainstream, it is not such a rare thing anymore. I know of at least 4 people who have had the procedure done and they all seem to be pleased with the results.

Did you experience any pain or discomfort as a result of the procedure? Initially, it does sound a bit scary although advantageous for the long-term (like getting one's wisdom teeth removed).
