Hello, Thread.

On amazon.com today SanDisk sold out of 48MB CompactFlash.

Of the Top 100 Best Sellers in Consumer Electronics it would
appear that flash cards remain extremely well positioned.

#11 32MB SmartMedia by SanDisk AVAILABLE
#18 32MB CompactFlash by SanDisk AVAILABLE
#26 128MB CompactFlash by Viking BACK ORDERED
#34 64MB SmartMedia by Viking BACK ORDERED
#53 48MB CompactFlash by SanDisk BACK ORDERED
#68 64MB CompactFlash by Viking BACK ORDERED
#69 64MB CompactFlash by SanDisk BACK ORDERED

I have no idea as to how much inventory Amazon.com had prior
to the holiday. Clearly they don't have ready access to outstanding
inventory like other e-tailers (ecost.com, egghead.com, onvia.com, buy.com...).

I posed a question on the Amazon thread regarding their
inventory/logistics/fulfillment infrastructure, but nobody
was able to give comment as to why no inventory was ready to ship.

It is my understanding that SanDisk does not recognized revenues
until shipped items are actually in the hands of the end user.
If the sales on Amazon.com are any barometer of general sales
trends and consumer preferences it would appear that we should
have another outstanding quarter at retail and further gains in
licensing revenues from the flash chip makers.

Should Viking (or any of the other known CF assemblers such
as Simple Technology or Kingston) have signed '987 licenses
this quarter I think there is a substantial likelihood of an
upside surprise, especially after factoring in a $6 million
lump sum payment from Lexar Media already.

Has anyone else done any retail channel checks locally?
