Well, they have to do that. When I short with my broker they just keep the proceeds of the short and ask for 50% more cash and I get no interest on any of it. The BEARX position is in fact about 60% short plus 5-6% puts, which seems to make them behave inversely to an average of the S&P and the Nasdaq at about an 80% ratio more or less.

Anyway, it works on the whole. If you look at today's Barron's ratings of mutual funds, BEARX is in the top 4-5 of all funds for the year 2000.

Now for those of us who are still in the hole on BEARX from ealrier years, we want to see even more.
