Dear DMA: There are MANY types of oranges. I grew up in ORANGE COUNTY FL and spent my young years in orange groves so I know something about them. The sweetest, thinnest skinned oranges are VALENCIAS. I dont know what type of orange you had but I suspect it was picked too soon or else it was mishandled in shipment. Living in Fl. of course I have never even heard of a Spanish orange but I can tell you I see no reason for the same TYPE of orange to taste any different from one area to the other all other things equal. Oranges require a certain temp. and irrigation range but not too fussy about soil. Why not come on down and have a FRESH ORANGE. If you drive, when you arrive at the state come to the visitor center, we will GIVE you your first glass of fresh FLA. orange juice. JDN
