Critics!...or as Doc Kronkite,a master malapropist, would likely say..."crickets". Anyway Richie and Emma-dilemma came over yesterday for the weekend. And though Suzy and I really don't like to shower the kids with toys and stuff for Christmas...they are kids and so we had a lotta trouble deciding what to get them. I remembered when I was Richie's age, 8 yesterday, and my dad bought me the first Hardy Boys mystery. It was wonderful. So I clicked onto AMAZON and ordered 5 Hardy Boys books. Total cost $15 and $4 for shipping. They'd be sent in 2-3 days I was told. Five days later I checked my order and they said 7-10 days, but not to worry...I'd get em well before Christmas. That was OK with me. Then I got an e-mail from AMZN saying they were sorry, but the books I'd ordered were unavailable. I was annoyed. What a way to run a business. And I was pleased that I'd shorted AMZN occasionally. I told Suzy that the Hardy Boys books wouldn't be coming for Richie. Two days later she comes home with the books...she found them, the last four, in an antique shop. She saved my day. Emma- dilemma wanted "Dancing Debbi" after seeing a TV commercial pushing Debbi. I was instructed to open the box (it took a jiffy-knife with a sharp blade and all my strength.) After 20 minutes and a few hits of oxygen I opened it to find Debbi. She required 2 "c" batteries, 4 "AAA" and 4 "AA" batteries. And there was a manual to assist in assembling it. When I saw the manual I knew I was in trouble. Emma was eager for me to get it up and working. I was busy looking for a Phillips screwdriver. Without a Phillips screwdriver I couldn't even begin. Ok, so it took a coupla hours, a trip to Doc Kronkite to calm my nerves and a continuous neck and shoulder massage from Suzy. Emma was very patient. And when I presented it to her, the smile on that kid's face was worth it. After I woke up following my collapse I saw Emma and Debbi. Emma had this little box attached to her belt. And whenever she moved or danced, Debbi would move or dance exactly and simultaneously with Emma. Unbelievable. I want one.
