Naviscope. My first hour with it it apparently loaded so much stuff that my computer system resources went critically low and I had to reboot. I had a lot of stuff running at the time, so I am now keeping a closer eye on my resource meter (W98) to see what is developing. Haven't figured out yet whether the keywords I have programmed in Blocking have resulted in prefetching those pages. The constant change in internet traffic makes a differences and then SI is sometimes slow (I think).

Did discover that passing my cursor over the Naviscope icon on my taskbar shows status (active), number of pages prefetched (10 at the moment) and number of ads blocked (an incredible 351 in one hour of surfing!). Also tweaked the active display box to be always on top and then 'shrink when idle' which turns it into another icon when it is not doing anything.

I notice on their website that the development is to include a feature by which N will "learn" where you usually surf and then prefetch those pages automatically. This would be a good feature, imo. The conflict I have to resolve is how much I can afford to let N prefetch considering the memory probs of W98. Which, is making me looking at that new PIII800 W2000 box more seriously again.

Anybody else have any good Naviscope tweaks?

best,

Rick

ps. I had to give Zonealarm permission to let Naviscope act as a server. Anybody think this could make me vulnerable to port scanners?
