I bet if we sat down with the carriers and asked them how they can be so stupid to choose
the ugly, red headed mutant called umts over our beautiful, shiny CDMA2000 supermodel,
they would rattle off a list of reasons that would make a lot of sense.

In a report on the prospect of IMT-2000 market, LG enumerated the problems of
cdma2000.

These include its investment cost, which will be 400 billion won higher than that required by
W-CDMA. Cdma2000 handsets will be more expensive than those based on W-CDMA,
because the mobile service will have a smaller subscriber base. LG aslo said a cdma2000
operator will expect to break even in 2009, four years later than W-CDMA operators.

Sure would love to see the full report. What one has to repect is the fact that this is coming from a CDMA user with first hand knowlegde and not from a GSM Fudster.
This is exactly the opposite of what we believe and what IJ has been saying and showing us on those now famous slides.
Do we all at least agree that WCDMA is no longer just vaporware??
I have never accepted the fact of WCDMA being just vaporware but never dreamed it would wind up being superior to CDMA2000, in fact I still don't believe it, but are we now going to have to endure FUD from our own supposed Allies.
If we are going to have to embrace WCDMA we need to know it's true strengths and weakness.

Happy Holidays to all.
