"I went in to apply for a state job. The black lady I talked to wouldn't give me an application form. First it was I needed a high school degree. I had one. Then I needed 2 years of college, went 3 years. I wasn't a veteran, showed her my honorable discharge. When she got to not a minority or a woman she had me. Ironically, all 23 that were hired with 26 openings were white males. No women or minorities applied" Back home in PA, a local plant (heinz) was investigated by the Dept. of Labor for not having enough female and minority employees. Problem is, they simply didnt apply, or had a high turnover rate (the plant has a high turnover rate overall. The place is god awful. I managed to stick it out there a week.)
