re: online broker

Hi Bedrock,

Actually Datek will allow you to immediately use your intraday trading profit. They are also exportable to Quicken, and they have a pretty good list of shortable stocks. In any case they list a stock as "not-shortable" when you put it on a non-streaming quote list so you'll know right away.

While Datek doesn't offer full direct-access they are IMO a huge step up from the Schwabs and E*trades. They do offer direct access to the ISLD ECN for example if you are trying to trade with an ISLD bid or ask.

If your time frame is longer than 15 minutes I think Datek might be your best bet, but you might want to compare with Interactive Brokers (I'm not familiar enough to remark on them... you should ask Dan Duchardt). Good luck.
