Dear ProLife: Your comment made me remember something. I am Catholic and what I am about to tell you is ABSOLUTELY TRUE. Years ago, I worked in a firm that was about 50% Jewish and the balance Christian. Well, every Christmas of course the office was closed and all the people got off work. However, on Hannuka and in fact for several days of that period the Jewish employees got off (with pay) and the Christians did not. There was some grumbling among the Christians about this. I was more or less responsible for the staff, so I went to the managing partner, who was Jewish, and told him, I think we ought to do something for the Christians as they are beginning to resent the fact that some get more days of Holiday than others. He said, well, that is a RELIGIOUS Holiday for Jews, I of course pointed out that Christmas wasnt but it went no where. So, I went home and the next day I brought a CATHOLIC Calender to the office and showed him how many RELIGIOUS DAYS we have. Anyone here who is Catholic knows that NEARLY EVERY DAY is a HOLY DAY in the Catholic Calendar. He NEARLY FAINTED and in a LOUD HUSH said, and I quote, "DONT SHOW THAT TO ANYONE" haha. JDN |
