Ben,

LG certainly has a dog in the fight but what about the other two carriers who were against CDMA2000 as much as LG. They all went for WCDMA even though they knew one of them would lose out if they didn't choose cdma2000, to risk losing out on a 3G license requires an almost hatred of cdma2000.
So LG's comments on their own must have a few few grains of salt added but taken in context with the actions of the other carriers, I think they hold some wieght.

No it's not ultimately important what flavor of CDMA wins but I think we should know which will win and why. As investors we should know as much as possible what is going to happen and why. In this market you can't know enough, it's the litlle things you don't know that get you. So I do think it is imperative that we know if WCDMA is superior to CDMA2000 or not. IJ states CDMA2000 is far superior, the rest of the world states otherwise. I would like to know why. As a previous poster stating we should no longer feel that all the carriers in the world going WCDMA are idiots, we are better off knowing the true reason why and thus better understandin how and why Q will benefiet.

For instance if the KOs went CDMA2000 the timeframe for increased earnings would have been shorter. So if the world is truly going to be a WCDMA world, that time factor must be taken into account when figuring Q's income stream.

Saw a full page ad from DOCOMO with a picture of it's president in Barons this week. Still saying their WCDMA rollout will be in May. I don't think this guy would set himself up for this kind of humiliation if they weren't positive they can make that date. So yes it would be best for Q to get it's nose under that tent. But even if it doesn't the question remains who is supplying the handsets and therefore will royalties be paid willingly or by a court order.
