Apparently Fujitsu is focused on buying NUFO, not AVNX, which is a good thing for AVNX share holders in my oppinion. I havn't read the following in its entirety, just scanned it. The post came from the Avnx thread, at Raging Bull.

FUJITSU BUYS NEW FOCUS?

We may see this headline "Fujitsu Buys New Focus For XXX" soon. It is quite possible that New Focus is in negotiation with Fujitsu to sell the company for over $100 per share. I think if New Focus management wants to satisfy all shareholders, they need to ask for a lot more than want the stock is trading at today. Keep in mind that the secondary offering was at $115 per share and they have cash that is worth already $14 per share (according to New York Times yesterday). The Fiber Optics sector continues to be one of the hottest sectors, so we will continue to see consolidation in 2001, and we might just start the new year with Fujitsu buying New Focus.

I think the news of Fujitsu buying New Focus is quite possible when we analyze new events of the last several days:

1. Tues, Dec 19th, Company press release: New Focus Expands Customer Base and Accelerates Manufacturing Capacity Expansion. This news talks about a BIG new customer but they would not reveal the customer's name. They stated, "At this customer's request, we are withholding the company's name until we are required to report the name under the rules of the Securities and Exchange Commission." Why? I think because New Focus is in negotiations with Fujitsu, I think the customer's name is Fujitsu and Fujitsu is looking at acquiring them.

2. Wed, Dec 20th, I alerted everyone to a breaking news from Bloomberg titled: "Fujitsu May Buy Small U.S. Optical Network Parts Makers to Take on Nortel." With this ground-breaking news, New Focus has to be at the top of Fujitsu's list. New Focus has various next-generation proprietary technologies, including several new products that will be announced early 2001, that Fujitsu will want to get their hands on so they could compete for the long-term against companies like Nortel Networks.

3. Thurs, Dec 21st, Company Press Release: New Focus and JCA Technology Amend Merger and Expect to Close Merger In January. The news stated, "The parties now expect to close the transaction in January 2001." Why did they finalize this earlier? If any company plans to acquire New Focus, New Focus needs to finalize all their merger deals.

The previously mentioned events are from reliable sources, but one other event that I should mention is by a frequent poster of this board:

UNSUBSTANTIATED INFO BUT WORTH MENTIONING. Fri, Dec. 22th, Yahoo poster nufoshortsqueeze posted a message titled, "Fujitsu reps spotted at New Focus". This poster went on to say, "A friend of mine said some high-level executives from Fujitsu are at New Focus today." Can anyone attest to the credibility of this poster?
