So each destination (server?) will be assigned a unique frequency? How many servers are there on the net? More than the thousand discrete frequencies into which Avanex claims to be able to divide light. How do they deal with that?

Sorry to be a pest but I am trying to understand the technology and I am just not getting it. Two years at the Duke School of Engineering before transferring to the Liberal Arts College to major in Anthropology isn't much help to me now. (Engineering to Anthropology! Author slaps forehead and utters a Homer-Simpsonesque, "Doh!" What was I thinking?)
