Advanced Communications Technologies -- Development Partnership With Chameleon Systems

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 26, 2000--Advanced Communications Technologies (Australia) Pty Ltd Tuesday announced in Melbourne, Australia that it had entered into a strategic partnership with Chameleon Systems Inc., of San Jose, Calif., to develop a base band modem card using the Chameleon CS2212 reconfigurable communications processor.

The card will form an integral part of Advanced Communications Technologies' multiple protocol mobile wireless base-station technology, "SpectruCell". Advanced Communications (Australia) Pty Ltd is an affiliate and equity partner of Advanced Communications Technologies Inc (OTC BB "ADVC").

Commenting on the agreement, Roger May, chief executive officer of Advanced Communications Technologies Inc. said: "The strategic partnership with Chameleon Systems is an exciting new development that provides an opportunity for two leaders in the field of reconfigurable technology to combine resources to develop specific new technological applications beneficial to both companies. Chameleon's CS2212 processor gives us the extra processing power and flexibility to additionally leverage SpectruCell's ability to provide many new and innovative services, including support for multiple wireless communications protocols. The incorporation of the Chameleon Technology into the SpectruCell system is an important development that will further enhance the benefits of the technology by increasing the flexibility and capacity of the current design."

Both ACT (Australia) Pty Ltd and Chameleon Systems are excited about this development partnership. Representatives of ACT (Australia) Pty Ltd's engineering team completed initial training at Chameleon, in San Jose, last week.

May also said: "The strategic development partnership with Chameleon has the potential to be instrumental in enabling ACT (Australia) to complete the commercial model of the SpectruCell multiple protocol base station slightly ahead of schedule, in order to bring the product to market well ahead of any other competitive technology. We are very excited about the full scope of the opportunity this new relationship presents for both companies."

ABOUT CHAMELEON SYSTEMS

Chameleon Systems is a semiconductor company developing the industry's first reconfigurable communications processing platform. They have created the first practical commercial implementation of reconfigurable technology for data intensive Internet, DSP and other high performance telecom applications. Chameleon's patented field reconfigurable technology provides unusual flexibility to design new equipment that can adapt to changing standards and algorithms once per year, add new features once per month or adaptively modify the algorithm once per microsecond based on the contents of the data stream. ABOUT ADVANCED COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGIES INC.

Advanced Communications Technologies Inc. (OTCBB: ADVC -news) is a leader in the field of Software Defined Radio that in conjunction with its Australian based affiliate has developed a proprietary, multiple-protocol wireless base-station, "SpectruCell". Through eliminating the use of Qualcomm (NASDAQ: QCOM - news) chipsets, and protocol specific hardware, by conducting all signal processing in software, SpectruCell provides for simultaneous support of multiple mobile communications protocols (CDMA, WCDMA, UMTS, GSM & 3G) all in the same base-station. Support for additional protocols is achieved through the uploading of additional software modules.

By implementing the company's SpectruCell technology network providers will be able to maintain service to their existing customer base and preserve the full utilization of their existing network infrastructure while at the same time securing a highly flexible migration path for evolving 3G-based protocols such as WCDMA and UMTS.
