yes, the structural deficit is so far being balanced out by CB sales and more importantly, gold lending (which effectively amounts to short selling). however, we have seen in 2000 a string of ever more exotic CBs join the game, imo a sure sign the game is close to ending. note also, the Bank of France, and the Bank of Venezuela have issued thinly disguised warnings to the carry trade.
