Now that you have defined "rustic" for this board to your satisfaction, take note of the fact that the Variety piece I posted was, in fact, a personal analysis. It was not a news story. So your accusation that the "liberal" media is using loaded terms falls flat. I have no idea what you're attempting to prove.
My initial use of the term "Bible-thumper" was to describe Ashcroft, the gospel-singing pol from the Ozarks, not all Christians. Only a small percentage of Christians would be considered revival fire "Bible-thumpers."
The term "Hoosier," however, is a different story. In Missouri-Kansas, the term is equivalent to "hillbilly." In other words, when someone in St. Louis calls another person a "hoosier," he means an unsophisticated, simple-minded, boorish, rustic person. |
