Not Gone: Just enjoying your pomposity. As I mentioned on 10/22/00, Sunrise is executing its business plan and I believe these comments from VISX bear watching. I direct your attention to the third paragraph from the end.

VISX cuts earnings estimates on concerns over customers

NEW YORK, Dec 26 (Reuters) - Eye surgery manufacturing company VISX Inc. (NYSE:EYE - news) on Tuesday lowered its earnings expectations for the fourth quarter, citing hesitance by consumers to purchase expensive laser vision correction procedures in times of economic uncertainty.

Santa Clara, Calif.-based VISX said it anticipates that some of its customers will be unable to meet their financial obligations to the company, and that it would increase its reserves against accounts receivable due from customers by $18 million, or about 18 cents per share after taxes.

Excluding the effect of the added reserves, VISX said it now expects to earn 15 cents to 17 cents per share for the fourth quarter. Consensus analyst estimates were 20 cents per share, according to market research firm First Call/Thomson Financial.

VISX said its earnings will also be effected by consumer confusion about the wide range of vision correction procedures available on the market.

VISX stock has fallen steadily since September, when it moved to the New York Stock Exchange from NASDAQ. The shares closed on Friday at $12-1/2, near a low of $10-7/8.

I believe you will find the vast majority of my posts to be stated in my opinion or quotes from published reports.
