I suspect schools in N.H. are somewhat different from those say, in Detroit, Chicago or St. Louis.

That's the problem. It's not really a teacher problem; it's a parent problem. So many kids in school today have parents who never respected or valued education. The cycle repeats every 20 years when these kids in turn have kids. How do we break the cycle? I don't know. You tell me.

But I will say this. The problem won't go away by Republicans chanting their mantra of " ... in my day we did it this way...."
