The sense of adventure is for the people who would eat my concoctions. It isn't in the cooking.

Reminds me of a story (true)....When I was about 10 years old, I decided to be a good brother and make breakfast for my two younger sisters. I got the famous cylindrical box of oatmeal out and read the intstructions and was very careful not forget any ingredients or cook it for the wrong amount of time. I served the oatmeal to my two sisters and within moments they were both loudly complaining about how horrible the oatmeal was. My stepmother came out and chastised them for being unappreciative and insisted that they finish their breakfast that I was so kind to make for them. One of my sisters insisted that my stepmother taste the oatmeal before making them eat it.....they got a reprive. Seems that the taste of oatmeal is significantly different when it has 1/4 cup of salt in it, rather than 1/4 teaspoon.
