Perhaps so. Many posters here can perhaps testify I have long come near to embracing this conclusion myself, and independently. I only voted for Bush this cycle because he gave lip service, albeit perfunctory lip service, to the issues I think really matter to the overall health of our country. Since he did this, and since Gore was adamantly opposed to my point-of-view, I sensed an obligation to vote against Gore. It likely will be the case that the next cycle, or the cycle after next, will offer me no real choice. And so that will be the cycle during which I will fully join Williams.
I think Williams is certifiably wrong concerning his positions on the Civil War (he thinks it was scarcely, if at all, about slavery) and the Confederate Flag, and were I engaged in debate with him (or anyone else for that matter) before an impartial jury, I would defeat him handily and with awesome force. Nevertheless I think his positions on most other issues are generally bang on.
I have long thought Tom Sowell a thinker above most. These men carry a heavy burden, being black and able to think outside the black box liberals so often force upon blacks. It is really unfair to them that they must carry it, but I never hear them complain about it. They make quite a difference, and are good role models for everyone, not just blacks. |
