Why are Latin poets and novelists so obtuse? I tried reading Mario Vargas Llosa a few years ago and I found him confounding. So many writers seem to take delight in being obscure and dense.

I love Latin music, though. Manuel Ponce and Joaquin Rodrigo are two of my favorite composers.
