Question for the thread:

Since most of those here are modestly negative on Europe and very negative on Japan, what is your outlook on world economic growth for the coming period?

If I felt that that Europe and Japan were both going to be economic drags, I would have a difficult time being sanguine about the future of the world and the U.S. as well.

As many have mentioned, the U.S. has been carrying a disproportionate load of the worldwide demand. I don't believe they can possibly keep it up. Who will pick up the slack?

I think the coming tax cut and interest rate cuts will help mitigate the drop in U.S. demand for goods and services, but see little chance that consumer spending as well as investment in plant and equipment will maintain their recent rates of growth.

I'm interested in everyone's predictions.
